Grove Lane
This walled garden was landscaped across two phases, starting with the terrace made from reclaimed York Stone paving. The following year, we completed the planting. We look forward to sharing updated photos of this garden during the 2026 growing season!
Our client wanted a formal garden with a small amount of lawn space and clipped topiary balls, complemented by a child-friendly back zone that worked alongside the shady conditions by creating a woodland-inspired area with bark. A water feature was a priority for the client, and a sunken reclaimed circular pond allows access for frogs and other wildlife whilst being shallow enough to be child safe. The central feature Luma apiculata is framed by a hornbeam archway that leads to the back area. We planted hornbeam hedging throughout the garden, and chose it its semi-deciduous leaves that soften the formality - which we will really see the full impact of as it grows over the next year. We also look forward to seeing how the Leptinella creeps into the gaps between the stepping stones that lead to and from the lawn.
